Fantastic story...Very true...I too come fromb the land of corn and have known "Evanstien", the man who would buy an ice cream cone and make his sweetheart split it with him, since he was about 14. He's like a son to me even though he tried to kill me on one occasion and has married dearly and with truest of heart. Undoubtedly the luckiest man alive! Oh, by the way Stephen...where is the Allman Brothers picture cd I let you borrow three years ago???

This is the most ambitious "Scrapbooking" project yet! And the most clutter-free.
Great idea! A fellow web site builder asking: did you do this on a Mac?

Dave,

I've been meaning to read this since last week. It took until this morning to be able to put aside all of my needless tasks and sit down to really do it. It touched me deeply. Although I did not know your father, I met him maybe once, it is evident he was a great man. You resemble him, not only in appearance but in spirit.

Your eulogy did exactly what is was meant to do; it made me laugh, it made me cry. It also made me see the world through your father's eyes, and subsequently through yours. Yes, you and your father seem much alike, he still lives in you - even down to your unique fashion sense.

I admire your father for many things. His ability to live by his heart's desire, never worrying about societal norms, those are wonderful characteristics. But the following comment he made about the teachings of Jesus really struck a chord: He said, “If I didn’t, then I should have. He was my greatest teacher.” I asked, “Was he the son of God?” My father said, “That is unimportant to his teachings. The lessons were valid independently. Plus we are all the sons of God.”

At the risk of sounding cliche, I am certain your father is in a better place...a universe he created for himself and one only he could love.

I hope you are in a good place with his passing. I am certain he would want you to be.

Your friend,
Allison

Great letter. I'm curious to know the outcome with your mother. I know you have a relationship with her now, but how was it soon after she received this?
